Yakubu Afe Izevbekhai is currently the University Librarian, Igbinedion University, Okada. Prior to taking up this appointment, he had worked as Sub Librarian II and I at the University of Benin before joining the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, where he rose to the position of Polytechnic Librarian. He was forced to retire prematurely from the services of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, in 2003 due to the Federal Government’s promulgation of the law on tenure for Principal Officers of tertiary institutions. Thereafter, he worked as Associate Librarian in NINLAN, Aba, Abia State.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Education (B Ed) Hons degree (Geography) and the Postgraduate Diploma in Librarianship in June 1970 and June 1971 respectively, both from the University of Ibadan, Mr Izevbekhai has the distinction of having worked in Public, Special and Academic Libraries in Nigeria.
Mr Izevbekhai is a Certified Librarian (CLN) whose articles have been published in peer-reviewed local and international journals.
As University Librarian, Igbinedion University, Okada, Mr Izevbekhai has the singular honour of having written the brief for the University’s ultra-modern library building that has become a design reference point for Nigerian University library buildings. He serves as a member of several Council and Management Committees of the University, some of which he chairs.
He also currently serves as the University Orator.
