IUO Unveils Hi-tech Digital Equipment during its ICT week -Sets Agenda For Smart Campus Initiative.



The celebration of the twentieth anniversary of Nigeria’s Premier Private University, Igbinedion University Okada, continued today with the commencement of an ICT week.
The week, themed “21st Century Educational Roadmap: The Impact of Technology” is in line with the vision of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Lawrence Ezemonye to revamp the University as a smart campus.
Declaring the 2019 ICT week open, the Chief Host and Vice Chancellor of Igbinedion University Okada, Professor Ezemonye, said the event is the first step towards the goal of making the Institution a smart campus and the fruit of the collaborations with the Institution’s ICT partners to expose staff and students to various ICT models which are in line with global best practices.
He further said that with Igbinedion University being at the forefront of developing ICT for the twenty first century, the Institution has four accredited ICT programs and is not relenting on the mandate of the Chancellor Sir Chief Dr Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion in harnessing the enormous benefits of ICT.
The Chairman of the occasion, who is also the National President of Nigeria’s Computer Society, Prof Adesola Aderoumnu, said Igbinedion University has, in its twenty years, revolutionized private universities by spearheading the ICT revolution in private sector education.
A keynote address on the theme “21st Century Educational Roadmap: The Impact of Technology” was delivered by the Director of Corporate Planning and Strategy of the Agency NITDA (National Information Technology Development Agency), Engr. Collins Agu and there were goodwill messages by Microsoft, Certified Systems Limited, CISCO, Intel, Huawei and other ICT partners of the Institution.
Igbinedion University Okada has unveiled a smart centre along with video conferencing facilities. The unveiling was performed by the Vice Chancellor, in company of the National President Computer Society of Nigeria, Prof.Adesola Aderounmu, representative of the Director General of NITDA and various ICT partners of the School. The aim of these new additions is to further the aspiration of Management to produce ICT driven staff and students of the 21st century and to extract and exchange beneficial information and ideas from international linkages.
