Cisco Networking Academy has announced its readiness to launch its Short Course Certification Program in Cyber Security at its Igbinedion University CISCO Academy.
This was made known by the South-South Representative of Cisco, Engineer David Ekpah during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor. Engineer Ekpah in his presentation noted that Cisco International is happy to be part of the University’s transformational agenda which it said has positioned the University as one of the fastest growing Universities in Nigeria. He therefore informed that because of the enthusiasm and commitment of the University toward Cisco Programmes, Cisco has named Igbinedion University Okada as its host for its South-South Digital Skills and Entrepreneurship Development workshop which would hold from 23rd to 28th September, 2019. The workshop according to him will attract 30 higher institutions of learning across the South-South region of Nigeria.
He noted that the University has distinguished itself as a serious partner in progress and may also likely host the forthcoming Cisco Safari workshop which is one of the biggest continental workshop in Africa come 2020.
While appraising the training modules of the Cisco Academy at Igbinedion University Okada, Engineer Ekpah confirmed to the University Management that Cisco is set to integrate its Curriculum with the University’s GST program, which would see to students taking Courses in IT essentials from their 100 level.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor thanked the representative of Cisco for the support enjoyed by the University from Cisco. The Vice-Chancellor reiterated his commitment and that of the University to make innovation and entrepreneurship all inclusive through Digital application. He emphasized that the University will stop at nothing to ensure that its graduate are not only world class but are world changers. This he said informed the planned certification of student from 100 level in IT essentials and all the other programs provided at the Cisco academy of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor commended Cisco for its initiative in introducing Cyber Security programme into its academy in Igbinedion University, Okada noting that the University is already processing NUC approval to commence programs in Cyber-Security and Software Engineering at the undergraduate and post-graduate level.
